Data stewardship & data ownership

• Act as the primary steward for assigned business data domains, ensuring data is managed according to established governance policies and standards.
• Collaborate with Data Owners and business stakeholders to define business rules, data definitions, and ownership responsibilities.
• Promote data stewardship best practices across business and technical teams.
• Support governance initiatives by ensuring consistent management of critical data assets.
• Participate in governance meetings, workshops, and data stewardship activities.
• Maintain documentation related to data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and governance processes.

Data quality & data validation

• Monitor data quality metrics and identify data quality issues affecting business processes.
• Define and maintain business data quality rules and validation criteria.
• Investigate data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation activities with business and technical teams.
• Validate business data against agreed quality standards and governance policies.
• Support implementation of automated data quality controls and monitoring.
• Track and report data quality improvements and governance KPIs.

Metadata & business glossary

• Maintain business metadata, business glossary terms, and critical data elements within the enterprise data catalog.
• Ensure business definitions remain accurate, consistent, and aligned across departments.
• Collaborate with technical teams to align business metadata with technical metadata and data lineage.
• Support the documentation of business rules, reference data, and master data definitions.
• Promote the adoption of standardized business terminology throughout the organization.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of metadata quality and governance practices.

Data governance & compliance

• Support implementation and adoption of Data Governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure business data complies with internal governance requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
• Participate in data governance initiatives related to data classification, retention, and data lifecycle management.
• Support audit activities by providing governance documentation and evidence.
• Identify governance risks and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
• Promote awareness of data governance principles across business teams.

Collaboration & support

• Work closely with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, BI Developers, and Data Governance teams to ensure data consistency across systems.
• Support business users in understanding enterprise data assets and governance processes.
• Participate in projects involving new data sources, business processes, and reporting requirements.
• Facilitate communication between business and technical teams regarding data-related topics.
• Contribute to governance documentation, user guidance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Support continuous improvement of enterprise data management practices.
