The Challenge: Two Incompatible Worlds

The bank was adding a new PI Lending application to an ecosystem where the legacy lending data model had been in place for years. The two systems spoke different languages: different structures, different logic, different representations of the same business reality.

Building a bridge between them — without breaking what already worked — required both deep technical analysis and significant stakeholder alignment. The relationship with the application’s Product Owner started under friction, adding pressure to an already demanding integration.

The Solution: Technical Depth Meets Stakeholder Management

Like other complex integrations, this project required building a full understanding of the new system before production data was available. Analysis was driven by question-driven discovery and structured conversations — not observation of live behaviour.

  • Data model correlation.  The IDS team mapped the new PI Lending model against the legacy DWH architecture, identifying every point of divergence and designing the reconciliation logic.
  • Specification-first delivery.  Complete functional specifications were written without live data, validated through ongoing dialogue with the application team.
  • Stakeholder alignment.  Consistent professionalism and transparent communication turned a difficult working relationship into a productive one — eliminating the ping-pong dynamic that typically stalls integrations.

The Battle: Technical Ambiguity and Stakeholder Friction

Two forces worked against this project from the start: the inherent complexity of mapping incompatible data models, and the resistance of a key stakeholder who had not yet seen what IDS could deliver.

Results resolved both. By go-live, the technical integration was clean and the working relationship had been rebuilt on a foundation of trust.
