About the project

Our solution

The Challenge: A New Application, a Different World

The bank was replacing its garnishments application with a new platform built on a fundamentally different data model. The old system was deeply embedded: 100+ DWH objects and reports depended on it.

Errors in garnishments data don’t just affect reports — they affect real people’s finances and the bank’s legal obligations. A failed migration was not an option.

The Discovery: Bringing in IDS

IDS Consulting was engaged to lead the full impact assessment and redesign — mapping which of the 100+ DWH objects and reports needed to change, and how.

The Solution: Analysis Without a Safety Net

The team faced an unusual constraint: no real production data from the new application was available before go-live. Every specification was built through discovery — structured conversations with application analysts, behavioral analysis, and informed reasoning.

  • Full impact assessment.  Every affected DWH object and report was catalogued and redesigned for the new data model.
  • Specifications written in blind.  With no live data available, the IDS team built complete specs from structured discovery and stakeholder dialogue.
  • Knowledge transfer built in.  Four junior analysts were trained on the analysis methodology throughout the project, not as an afterthought.

The Battle: Speed, Pressure, and No Live Data

Building an integration without production data to validate against is as difficult as it sounds. Every assumption had to be tested through conversation, and every specification had to be defensible on logic alone.

At go-live, the specifications held. There were no surprises.

The Results: Clean Integration, Growing Team

  • New application integrated with zero impact.  No disruption to report consumers or beneficiaries.
  • Zero data integration errors in the DWH.  Every object and report performed as specified.
  • Zero report errors post go-live.  All 100+ affected reports delivered accurate output from day one.
  • Internal team upskilled.  Four junior analysts visibly grew in capability and are now equipped to handle future integrations independently.
